At the Catholic Foundation of Southwest Iowa, we are pleased to help you experience the JOY of philanthropy!
To ensure your year-end giving to your favorite parish, school, or Catholic organization goes smoothly, review these dates and giving options to connect your charitable tax deductions and charitable support timely.
For your 2020 charitable contributions, use this guide to assure that your gift will be recognized in 2020:
Cash: Mail checks directly to your parish, school, or Catholic organization so that it is postmarked no later than December 31, 2020. If you would like to make a donation online, check that organization's website directly, or check out our giving options here.
Stock: You must make a transfer of securities electronically so that it is received by December 31, 2020, and in order for this to happen, you should initiate transfer no later than December 20. Be sure to allow 7-10 days to complete the stock transfer.
IRA Charitable Rollover/QCD: Donors who are 70½ years old and older can transfer up to $100,000 annually from IRA accounts to public charities without being subjected to federal income taxes on the distribution. Gifts may also qualify for the Endow Iowa Tax Credit, a 25% tax credit.
As a reminder, all 2020 Endow Iowa Tax Credits have been awarded. Endow Iowa qualified contributions made now may be eligible for 2021 tax credits.
As you are prayerfully considering your philanthropy, ask yourself how you might include your parish, school, Catholic organization, or ministry in your estate plan to support your mission for years to come. Contact CFSWIA at 515-237-5044 or at [email protected] for more information on any of the previously mentioned giving vehicles.
